The ship wherein Theseus and the youth of Athens returned had thirty oars, and was preserved by the Athenians … for they took away the old planks as they decayed, putting in new and stronger timber in their place, insomuch that this ship became a standing example among the philosophers, for the logical question of things that grow; one side holding that the ship remained the same, and the other contending that it was not the same.

About Deadlight

Deadlight is a one-shot boffer larp running July 25-26 2025 at the Sturbridge Host Hotel and Conference Center in Sturbridge, MA. Deadlight is a Witchtowers Games larp owned by Zoe Eddy and Scott LaTour of the Red Rabbit Productions LLC.
Deadlight is a nautical horror larp set in the modern day. In this one-shot event, you will step aboard the Redemption, a passenger ship infamous for its storied history. As either a criminal seeking their fortune or a supernaturalist hunting the paranormal, you will work with other players to uncover the secrets spoken only to the waves. What begins as a mission of greed or curiosity will surely spiral into a desperate fight for survival–as the salt waters of the sea churn, and the mysteries of the ship present themselves, the safety of shore will grow ever farther away. Aboard the Redemption, every decision could be your last, and the haunting echoes of the past may claim you before dawn.
The Red Rabbits
We are a team of Indigenous artists who love running larps. Red Rabbit Productions, our larger company, also operates our larp platform: Witchtowers Games. We have run the following: After Dark (2017-2020), Madrigal: Oathbound (2019-2023), Thaumatrope (2018-2020), Elsewhere (2023-2024), Ink (2016-2019), and Zealot (2023-present). We have also been key staff for Madrigal 2, Madrigal 3, and Clockwork Skies. We have also run a variety of one-shot larps in different formats and are excited to bring together a new, exciting staff for this game.

Content Disclosure
This game is a horror game that explores a variety of mature themes, and is firmly a 21+ game. While we are happy to collaborate with players to reveal appropriate content disclosure notes prior to game play, we are running a game with a variety of adult themes and cannot promise that we will be able to accommodate all player needs. (If this were an American tv show it would have the rating of TV-MA.) Upsetting themes you may encounter over the course of game may include (and are not limited to): addiction, brutality, child death, gore, horror imagery and atmosphere, wartime violence and wartime narratives, suicide, institutional violence, institutionalization, intimate partner violence, mental illness, sexual abuse narratives, substance abuse, trauma, and violence.
Community Values
Deadlight is run and written by members of the LGBTQ community. We maintain an LGBTQ friendly, safe, and inclusive space.
Deadlight is a Witchtowers Games larp. All Witchtowers Games are run and owned by Indigenous people. In all Witchtowers Games, we maintain a staunchly anti-racist and anti-Nazi space. We do not permit white supremacy or expressions of white supremacy. (Expressions of white supremacy include, but are not limited to, hate speech and Nazi paraphernalia.)
Deadlight does not permit harassment or assault of any type. Any individual committing harassment, inside or outside of the game space, will be banned from the game. Harassment and assault include, but are not limited to: inappropriate and/or abusive comments made at game/in another space, inappropriate and/or abusive activities done at game/in another space, and online interactions.
Deadlight is a sex positive space. Abusive comments about sexual orientation, expression, identity, and/or lifestyle are not permitted.
We reserve the right to remove any player from our game, at any time. In the event that you are asked to leave a game, based on a violation of either our community policy or the larger system of game rules, you will not be offered a refund.
Additionally, Deadlight is a modern game that explores issues of criminality. In order to keep this space a fun and creative space for all people, players may not engage in fictional representations of hateful behavior (including, but not limited to, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, anti-semitism, and racism). Exploring these themes in a game is a worthwhile pursuit, but Deadlight is not an appropriate space. While staff may decide to facilitate marginalized populations to explore these themes in a game space, this will be done in a collaborative fashion with marginalized community members. Staff reserves the right to veto themes that players may wish to explore in the interest of community safety.
Finally, as Deadlight partially focuses on crime, it is important to determine appropriate crimes for gameplay. Players may not play people who have committed a sex crime or a hate crime. (Links lead to more information about both.)
